DR. FABONG JEMCHANG YILDAM

MBBS, FMCFM, PGPN (Boston)

Born on November 26, 1979 in Bori, Rivers State of Nigeria to Mr and Mrs John Dangida Fabong. He is the second of six children and hails from Bapkwai, of Kuffen District in Langtang North Local Government of Plateau State. He attended Notem Primary School Bori Ogonni, Rivers State from 1985 - 1987, Baptist Primary School Bukuru, 1987 - 1988, and LGEA Primary School Kuba from 1988 - 1990. He went to Christ Apostolic College, Kuba in Bokkos Local Government Area Plateau State, from 1990 – 1995, and studied medicine in the prestigious University of Jos, Jos Nigeria from 1997 - 2005 where he obtained the MBBS.

 

Dr Fabong was an intern in the Jos University Teaching Hospital from 2005 - 2006, thereafter, went for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps in Borno State where he served with the Nigeria Customs Services in Maiduguri between 2007 and 2008. Dr Fabong started his postdoctoral residency training in Plateau State Specialist Hospital in 2008 in the faculty of Family Medicine of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2013.

 

He was appointed Consultant Family Physician and Head of the Accidents and Emergencies/ General Outpatient Department in 2013, from where he participated actively in the training programme of the faculty of Family Medicine as a trainer and examiner of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Dr. Fabong took diplomas and certificate courses at the Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne, Boston University School of Medicine, Enterprise Development Centre, Pan Atlantic University Lagos, and the University of Global Health Equity Kigali, Rwanda.

 

Dr Fabong is an Instructor of the Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). He is presently a student of the MD Programme of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Lagos.

 

Dr Fabong is married Hope Adanchin Fabong and the duo are blessed with 5 children. He has been the Supervising and visiting Consultant to Salem Medical Centre in Throneroom Trust Ministries, Kafanchan Kaduna State since 2012, where he does missions. He has been a partner with the HELP Int. Nigeria since 2017, Director of Mobilizations at Tipping Point Plateau, a group established to ameliorate the conditions of the needy on the Plateau. He was one-time National President of the Christ Apostolic College Kuba, Public Relations Officer and Secretary of the Nigerian Medical Association, Plateau State Chapter. He was also Chairman of the Plateau State Youth Council, and Chairman, Forum of State Chairmen, National Youth Council of Nigeria.

 

Dr Fabong was in the SUG House of Parliament for 4 years, and held several positions in the House of Parliament. He served as, Ag. Chairman of Kuba Youth Development Association, Clerk of the Jos University Medical Students Association (JUMSA) House of Parliament, Member of the National Executive Council NMA, Chairman Parents Teachers Association, Founders International Academy, and have served on numerous Boards. He was bestowed with the highest honour of the laity in Assemblies of God Nigeria, as a member of the bodies of Ambassador, and presently serve in that capacity as an Ambassador of the Kingdom. He is also a member of the Apostolic Presbytery of the Throneroom Trust Ministries Inc. He is presently the Director-General of the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency.

 

Dr Fabong combined within himself a well-trained and informed physician, administrator, youth leader, a teacher and an Apostle in the market place. He is well travelled and his hobbies include, reading, research (with many publications), visitation, teaching and watching football. He is also a Sunday School Teacher, and the youth patron of his local church.

 

Dr.Fabong is efficient, reliable, courageous, and full of initiatives. He is an excellent team player, very hardworking with the readiness to learn, face challenges and perform in diverse areas as may be required or necessary. He has strong managerial and leadership talents, a team player attitude that leads to the natural ability to establish a consensus among cross- functional lines. He has proven multitasking capabilities with strong ability to plan, prioritize and manage complex projects under aggressive time limits. His interest is in Mentoring, Discipleship, Leadership and Research in medicine.
